Goodtask integrates your calendar into every view, letting you see everything you need to plan your day, week, or month all in one place. Goodtask simply looks more modern and cleaner than the aging Reminders interface. One of the main features is the presentation. ![]() You can still use Reminders exactly as you did before and turn to Goodtask when you need those more powerful features. With Goodtask, Reminders becomes much more powerful, but it doesn’t get rid of anything. Goodtask builds on top of Reminders, keeping the simplicity and features while adding another feature set of its own. Alright, let's get to it.What if you like Reminders enough that you don’t want to move to a more powerful app like Things 3 or OmniFocus? In that case, Goodtask has exactly what you need. Ok, that's quite a bit, but hopefully it will give you a true idea as to in what situations this light really shines (yep, there are going to be so many light puns in this article). Try with the auto dimming / colour setting to see what the light itself thinks is correct.Try different temperature and brightness levels. No lights on in my room - just the monitor. In my mind I had a few key use cases I wanted to try out: Ok now the light was on, it was time to try the various modes that I shall attempt to capture and document below. Deeper Dive - experimenting with settings - a comparison See below for my deeper dive that tests things out under slightly stricter conditions with better comparisons using photos that more accurately capture the differences that I saw. To kick things off here is a video reaction of my initial thoughts when trying out various settings to give you a feel for the device. See my video below for a full explanation to get your light to turn on in all its glory: Initial thoughts - trying out all the things Minor UX detail, but once you know how to use it, you are good to go. I figured the sensor for your hand may be in this area so you need to hover over there first to activate the device in order to use any of the buttons it seems. For a brief moment I thought something was wrong, but then I started tapping the surrounding buttons which also did nothing until I tapped the one at the bottom and the other buttons illuminated. Looking at the controller above, my natural instinct was to press the middle area that looked like the power button (which it is) however nothing happened. With everything connected, it was time to power it on. Upon receiving the device, everything felt pretty premium, even the box was well designed and thoughtfully planned for a speedy unboxing: ![]() So with that in mind, let's see how it went! Hello ScreenBar Halo Now as many of you know I'm a huge fan of RGB lighting in my general room setup (from my microphone to my keyboard, follower counters and glowing backpacks), but none of that lighting is designed with my eyes in mind and general PC productivity so I admit I was curious to try this out and see if it can really help me during those late nights and long hours when working from home - especially when working in a darker room closer to bedtime when I tend to turn the ambient room lighting down.Ī good task light can help prevent eye strain and dry eyes as well as increase your productivity / focus at the same time creating a very pleasant working environment that can mimic daylight to some degree. ![]() So early this month I got an email from BenQ who had noticed I was up posting at all hours of the day and decided it was time to save my eyes from any potential eye strain (thanks for shining some light on this - pun intended) so they sent me over a ScreenBar Halo unit to try out with my monitor, use it for a month, and post an honest review of my experience, so here it is.
